Innovations for Metropolitan Regions (Working Title)

Publisher: Springer Gabler
Editors: Patrick Planing, Patrick Müller, Payam Dehdari and Thomas Bäumer
Editorial: Christine Kraus

Metropolitan regions account for a significant proportion of global value added and, as a consequence, form the immediate living space for a large number of humans. The growth of the global economy push this trend further and confronts metropolitan regions with various challenges, such as reducing anthropogenic climate impact, solving traffic congestion or creating livable spaces in dense urban areas.

These challenges can be met by innovations from a wide range of disciplines. Intelligent mobility concepts, digital solutions and sustainable urban development offer the opportunity to do so. With this call of paper, we therefore want to create a knowledge platform for innovations in the metropolitan region.

In particular, we are looking for contributions on the following or related topics:

  • Innovative mobility concepts for people and goods
  • Climate-friendly concepts and sustainable innovations
  • Promoting sustainable consumer behaviour
  • Planning and managing sustainable infrastructure
  • Digital solutions for the intelligent city
  • Energy-efficient buildings and smart energy supply
  • Sustainable designs and building material.

Potential authors are requested to submit an abstract by 15.07.2019. This short abstract (max. 250 words) should serve as a basis for an initial feedback on the suitability for the book in principle. You will receive feedback on the abstracts by 01.08.2019. A later rejection in the review process is, however, still possible.

The complete manuscripts (in English), prepared in accordance with the APA guidelines, must be submitted by 15.09.2019 at the latest.

All manuscripts undergo a peer review procedure. The authors will receive feedback on their manuscripts by 01.10.2019 and may then have until 01.11.2019 to finalise their contributions. The publication of the book is planned for the beginning of 2020.

Further questions on book and manuscript design as well as the submission of the abstract should be directed to the email address:
