Smart Public Building 2018 - Conference and openHAB workshops <<

On 19th and 20th October, the public launch event for the Smart Public Building project will take place at HFT Stuttgart, right before the community events Smart Home Day and EclipseCon in Ludwigsburg.

Smart Public Building is exploring concepts for a sustainable and energy-efficient use of public buildings based on the open source platform openHAB. The project involves users and user communities in all its planning and development activities. A prototypical implementation of the concepts within the university building will serve as showcase for other public institutions to support further use and development of the tested scenarios. Smart Public Building is part of the joint HFT project i_city: Intelligente Stadt.

The event will start on Friday, 19.10., with lectures and best-practices in the field of smart buildings – e.g. on scalability of smart homes to smart public buildings, on semantic modeling, indoor positioning and visualization of spatial data as well as self-learning systems in building automation.

On Saturday, 20.10., two full-day workshops will take place in parallel: A user workshop, where Marianne Spiller introduces to the possibilities of openHAB with a Raspberry Pi and openHABian. The developer workshop with Patrick Fink will guide participants through theory and practice of developing openHAB bindings with Java and the openHAB IDE, outcome will be the implementation of an individual binding.

Registration for conference and workshops is now open

Participation is free on both days. The number of places for the workshops on Saturday is limited.
