Tasks of the computer centre (EDPC)
As the central service facility of the HFT Stuttgart, the computer centre provides the communication infrastructure for the entire university.
From one office, it plans and runs the university network, with the central servers on it. Offered on these servers are a series of services such as access to the Internet, the mailing system, WLAN/VPN, telecommunications, the e-learning system and building access. In order to operate these central services, the computer centre develops security concepts and implements the guidelines for data protection necessary to provide security.
Another core duty is to set up, operate and maintain central PC rooms for lectures, exercises and practical lessons for all faculties. Furthermore, the purchase of hardware and software for the entire university is coordinated from the computer centre.
Last, but not least, the computer centre is a service provider for advising and supporting the faculties as well as all members of the university on the use of information technology.
