Project description This research project focuses on the analysis of collector/regenerators for an innovative direct solar thermally regenerated liquid sorption system for air conditioning applications in buildings, in order to reduce the primary energy consumption in the building sector which is estimated at 40% of the total world energy consumption. The main activities of the project are organized in 6 work packages and in subtasks assigned to the involved project partner University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart (HFT) and the partner company dr. jakob energy research (JER). In WP1, the basis for the planned R&D work will be established. WP2 deals with the investigations of liquid desiccants, materials and process controls for the newly developed absorber and collector/regenerators. In the 3rd WP, preliminary design concepts for the absorber and the collector/regenerator will be developed in cooperation with the partner company JER. WP 4 and 5 deal with the experimental analyses of the absorber and the collector/regenerator prototypes. In WP6 the benchmarking with indirect solar regenerators and an economic analysis according to the VDI2067 specification will be carried out. The subsequent utilisation of the project results takes place at the scientific level (integration in the teaching program, basis for cooperative doctorate, publications) and at economic level between the partner company JER and the HFT.
