Project description EnEff:Stadt [“ENergy-EFFicient:City”] – an interdisciplinary preliminary research project focusing on geoinformatics, sustainable energy technology and urban planning – was funded by Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg gGmbH as part of its research stimulus programme in 2008 and 2009. The aim of the project was to identify interfaces between the three fields, provide deeper insights into topics such as “urban development as a brake on climate change”, “energy-efficient urban planning and “climate-friendly urban regeneration” and guide the development of joint research applications. The project spawned numerous other research projects focusing on the interface between sustainable energy planning and energy-efficient urban planning, for example an energy concept for the districts of Grünbühl and Sonnenberg (part of EnEff:Stadt Ludwigsburg) and an energy-efficient urban development project in Munich-Freiham.
