Project description The aim of this project is to verify the feasibility of an automated feasibility assessment process for an automobile. In particular, the project is to determine whether or not it is possible to develop a software tool able to automatically define and validate fitting paths for the majority of a vehicle’s parts. Each individual part is allocated a specific position in the fitting sequence. A path which takes the part out of its fitted position (often linked to collisions) and through the surrounding geometry to a fitting workstation outside the vehicle needs to be identified for every part. With the exception of initial collisions, the path may not include any other contact with solid bodies in the surrounding geometry. In addition to the verification of the feasibility of this type of automated feasibility assessment process, the project will also involve the drafting of potential implementation concepts.
