Project description The aim of this joint project is to successfully develop and test a non-contact, gest-controlled user interface which assists people in their daily interaction with technical support systems. The solution will be based on the use of Microsoft’s “Kinect” motion-sensing input device among other elements. The device fulfils the technological prerequisites for not only the recognition and tracing of people, their posture and gests from a distance, but also the selection of appropriate system responses. The non-contact operation of technical support systems represents an opportunity for hospitals and other care facilities to avoid the contact-based spread of pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. HFT Stuttgart – and in particular its corporate software and embedded systems laboratories – will primarily be involved in the implementation of the software required.
