Im Zentrum für industrielle Anwendungen der Mathematik und Informatik (ZINA) wird fundierte, problemorientierte Grundlagenforschung mit anwendungsorientierter Industrieforschung verknüpft. Sprecherin des Kompetenzzentrums ist Prof. Dr. Nicola Wolpert.

Die im Zentrum durchgeführte Methodenentwicklung benötigt einerseits fundierte Kenntnisse der zugrundeliegenden Theorien und Verfahren. Hier kommen zum Beispiel Methoden aus den Bereichen Zahlentheorie, numerische Simulation, effiziente geometrische Algorithmen oder Künstliche Intelligenz zum Einsatz. Andererseits bedarf es für die zielgerichtete Anwendung auch ausreichende praxisorientiere Erfahrung, die unsere Forschenden einbringen.

Die Forschungsaktivitäten im ZINA sind stark interdisziplinär ausgerichtet. Typischerweise verknüpfen sie zwei oder mehr Fachdisziplinen aus der Informatik, der Wirtschaftsinformatik, der angewandten Mathematik und der industriellen Messtechnik und Vermessung.

Kooperationen existieren auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene. Partner sind zum Beispiel große und mittelständische Unternehmen der Industrie wie die Daimler AG, die invenio VT GmbH oder die Binogi GmbH. Zudem gibt es auch eine Zusammenarbeit mit Versicherungsinstituten und wissenschaftlichen Institutionen wie der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz und dem Karlsruher Institut für Technolgie (KIT).

Themenfelder

  • Forschung und Entwicklung von Softwarelösungen für die digitale geometrische Bauraumuntersuchung, beispielsweise eines Fahrzeugs, und die Montageplanung im Nah- und Fernbereich. Dabei kommen sowohl effiziente geometrische Algorithmen und Datenstrukturen als auch Methoden der Künstlichen Intelligenz/Deep Learning zum Einsatz.

  • In der optischen Messtechnik stehen die Automation und die Einbettung in Arbeitsflüsse im Vordergrund. Dabei kommen Methoden des Deep Learning und Structure-from-Motion (3D-Objektrekonstruktion) zum Einsatz.

  • Die Erkenntnisse zahlentheoretischer Arbeiten werden unter anderem in der Kryptographie genutzt.

  • Multiagentensysteme kommen für Optimierungsprobleme mit vielen Akteuren in der Projektplanung oder beim Lastmanagement in Energienetzen zum Einsatz.

  • Hier werden Geometriemodule für die Differentialgeometrie, für die Freiformgeometrie (Dreiecks-Bézierflächen) und zur Veranschaulichung der Subdivision Techniken entwickelt.

  • Hardware zur Erfassung von Sensordaten und entsprechende Algorithmen für Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstellen, umgebungsunterstütztes Leben und Robotik werden entwickelt.

  • Hochleistungsrechner des bwUniCluster berechnen an der HFT entwickelte Simulationen in der Prozessoptimierung.

  • Digitale Stadtmodelle, entwickelt im Zentrum für Geodäsie und Geoinformatik, werden als Geometriedaten für numerische Strömungssimulation (CFD) verwendet, um Aussagen über Einsatzmöglichkeiten von Kleinwindkraftanlagen in bebauten Gebieten zu machen. Zudem werden Untersuchungen zum urbanen Mikroklima begleitet.
