| Project description | This pilot project was funded in 2008 and 2009 by the National Institute for Building, City and Space research (German: BBSR) in a program for national city development politics. The Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences and the Stuttgart City Planing and Redevelopment Agency applied for and completed this project in a joint effort. Using the one-time freight yard area in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt as an example, it was researched, how city residential areas can appreciate in value due to a very good selection of education and child-care options. The location factor “education” makes the area more attractive as a place to reside for families with children and at the same time increases the value of neighboring residential areas. The purpose of this is to counteract segregation in the cities. The project will be perpetuated by the creation of a coordinating group and an architecture competition. |
