| Project description | The goal of this research project “Hosyma”, which is financed by the BMWi, is to develop vacuum panels that are at least two times cheaper than the panels that have until now been available on the market. The Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences is involved in this project with a project group consisting of 10 partners. In order to reach this goal, the expensive pyrogen silicon dioxide that is used as the supporting core needs to be replaced with less expensive material. As until now, no cheaper material could be found with comparable thermal characteristics, especially ones with nano-structure pores, the large increase in the thermal conductivity of gas in alternative materials must be compensated for by a much more air-tight casing system. The casing sheets that are intended for this purpose require special attention regarding thermal bridging. The responsibility of the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences is to optimize the installation situation as well as the application and installation techniques with regard to thermal bridging using suitable, very air-tight sheathing. |
