1995 Additional Buildings
The vacated adjacent building of Kienestrasse 45 was promised to the university. This so-called Building 4 houses the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Foundation Studies and Building Physics. The model workshops and the labs of the Department of Architecture were also moved to Building 4.
1995 Student Project Block 4
Through a university-wide student project, a first pavilion in the courtyard was created (Block 4). The planning and building were both organised by the students. The wood construction was financed by donations and is open for student events.
1999 Implementation of the New University Framework Law
The main aim was to form an accreditation committee, which in co-operation with business and professional associations defined the minimum requirements for a professional course of study and how to guarantee these.
2001 Restructuring the Departments
The five departments were reorganised into three:
  • Architecture and Design
  • Civil Engineering, Building Physics and Business Management
  • Geomatics, Computer Science and Mathematics
2002 Foundation of zafh.net
zafh.net (Centre for Applied Research at Universities for Sustainable Energy Technology) is a centre for building energy research. It was established as one of three elite research centres in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Universities in the State combine their competencies in applied research and development.
2003 Additional Space
Building 5 was created by taking over 2 floors and the basement of the “Breitscheidstrasse” building from the University of Stuttgart. This space is being used for the workshops of Interior Architecture.
2005 Introduction of Faculties and the changeover to the Bachelor-/ Master system
On the 1st October 2005, the three departments were renamed faculties. Furthermore, as part of the process of Bologna, all courses of study were adapted to the Bachelor and Master system.
2005 Renaming
On the 1st January 2005 the new university law came into effect and the “Fachhochschule Stuttgart – Hochschule für Technik” was renamed as the “Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart“.
2007 Anniversary of the UAS Stuttgart
The anniversary of the UAS Stuttgart was celebrated with a variety of special events.
2007 New Rector
Prof. Rainer Franke (*1954) was appointed to the office of Rector.
2008 Center for additional skills
For mentoring and promotion all university members in the fields “teachings and studying” the center for additional skills was established.
2009 Milestone for the new building
The architects’ competition for the new building was decided. The architectural bureau “berger röcker architects” in Stuttgart won the first price.
2010 New Corporate Identity
The university received a new corporate identity.
2010 Renaming
The „Fachhochschulen“ in the State Baden-Württemberg were renamed as „Hochschulen für Angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW)“.
