The six semester Bachelor programme in Interior Design at the HFT Stuttgart aims to train practical and creative interior designers with the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Interior design is always closely linked to the tasks and questions of holistic architecture, therefore in the training as an interior designer the elements of building, interior and features as well as furniture are dealt with. The Bachelor programme enables training as a generalist by teaching well grounded, technical, artistic and organisational knowledge.
The degree is divided into the foundation course (semester 1 und 2) and a main course (semester 3 to 6). It has a modular structure and encompasses a total of 180 credit points. In the first two semesters the general principles are taught. The foundation course is concluded with the Bachelor pre-examination.
The main course encompasses semesters 3 to 6. It includes the practical study project (optionally semester 4 or semester 5), thereby the students should gain job related experience in a practical placement, supervised by the university, or study at one of the partner universities abroad. The modules from the foundation course will be built on in the main course. In semester 6 the Bachelor thesis is completed. This should show that the students can solve a task from the subject of interior design independently and professionally within a specified period of time. The editing time is 7 weeks.
The entry requirement for the programme in Interior Design is a general university entrance qualification, a subject related university entrance qualification or a University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification.
