At the beginning, advanced conceptual and integrative design is in the foreground. In the first, third and fourth semester you study at your home university. The second semester will take place at one of the co-operating universities in Scotland, Finland, Switzerland or Turkey in the English language. All students of the partner universities will start the third semester with a joint intensive workshop at a location which changes annually. Then you continue to study at your home university. Advanced study areas are here detailed design, job related management and sociology and philosophy. The modules in the third semester are oriented towards the future areas of activity of interior design in management positions as project managers or entrepreneurs. The graduates are therefore in a position to responsibly manage a project, both holistically in all work phases, and in questions of detail. The four month Master thesis forms the conclusion in the fourth semester, in which the students must deal with a self set task, theoretically, practically and artistically. In preparation for the Master thesis aspects of finding a topic, knowledge processing, scientific method, time structuring, formulation and presentation of the self set topic are taught. In the creative thesis the students will work on a practically oriented design concept from theoretical and artistic aspects. Presentation and critique will take place with the professors from the partner universities in English.
The internationally oriented Master programme IMIAD opens up very good employment possibilities for graduates on the national and international labour market, not least because the Master's degree is signed by all co-operating partner universities. Graduates are therefore well prepared for future areas of activity of interior design in management positions as project managers or entrepreneurs. They are in a position to manage a project responsibly, both from a holistic point of view in all work phases and in questions of detail. Due to the admission qualification to higher service and a doctorate, a wide range of future plans can be achieved.
IMIAD was successfully accredited by ASSIN (Accreditationsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik e.V.[Accreditation agency for courses of studies in engineering sciences, IT, natural sciences and mathematics.]) in 2006.
