The civil engineer accompanies a building project from the planning, proposal and construction work through to the acceptance of work and billing of the construction work. Extensive knowledge of the relevant legal and safety regulations, building physics and structural analysis are required for this together with managerial knowledge, as the efficiency of the building project must always be taken into account during the planning and execution.
Civil engineers work in management positions in all sectors of the building trade, in building companies and planning offices as well as in institutions and authorities of municipalities, states and the government.

At Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, further specialisation in the subsequent Master’s degrees of „Constructive Civil Engineering” and „Foundation Engineering/Tunnelling” is offered after you have successfully completed the civil engineering degree.
