Application deadline: 15th July (winter semester)
Period of studies: 7 semesters
Degree: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Programme language: German
Master programmes: Software Technology, Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics

Short description / Profile of the programme  <<

In the practically oriented programme Information Logistics you learn to bring "the right information at the right time in the right quality to the right place“.

Due to the interdisciplinary approach you acquire well grounded knowledge in IT and are able to deal with space oriented information confidentially. With state of the art technology you are trained for the growing future markets such as mobile communication.

As a specialist in the field of application of engineering sciences, IT and economics, you complete the programme with the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).

Programme language is German.

Structure of the programme <<

The seven semester degree is divided into two sections - foundation course and main course. This is supplemented by a semester for the completion of a practical study project (as a rule the 5th semester).

In the foundation course basic content of information logistics, IT and measurement technology such as object oriented programming, telematics and sensor technology (e.g. laser, GPS, RFID) are dealt with. The course is supplemented by mathematics and business management with the focus on logistics as well as key qualifications in foreign languages, presentation and communication.

In the main course the knowledge in IT and measuring technology will be extended and supplemented by special subjects such as ecommerce, workflow management, geo-visualisation, data analysis and mobile computing. The future oriented degree is rounded off by key qualifications such as software project management.

Significant features are amongst other things integrated projects with companies which teach you interdisciplinary working methods and team skills.

The practical study semester (5th semester) serves to apply and expand upon the acquired theoretical knowledge under practical conditions in collaboration with companies. The practical experience abroad is especially supported by an international network of universities and companies.

The Bachelor thesis is written in the 7th semester and is mostly carried out in collaboration with companies in the areas of logistics and IT. It should show that the students can work on a task in the area of information logistics independently according to engineering sciences methods, in a specified period of time. The Bachelor thesis can of course also be written at partner universities or companies abroad.

Requirements <<

  • The requirement for the degree is a general university entrance qualification, subject related university entrance qualification, University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification or equivalent foreign educational achievements.
  • Enjoyment of dealing with modern communication and information technology and high tech measuring devices is necessary for the degree in Information Logistics.
  • Good grades in natural sciences subjects.
  • Communication skills, hard work, tendency towards structural, conceptual work and enjoyment of project oriented work.
  • General computer, internet and programming skills are advantageous.

Prospects <<

The typical role of graduates of the Information Logistics programme is project assignments (even internationally). Based on a broad range of knowledge in the areas of spatial information, communication, IT, business management, logistics and consulting they are in a position to communicate with everyone involved in the project competently (even in English) and co-ordinate them.

Graduates work for example:

In the area of economics:

  • Analysis, design, optimisation and documentation of business and production processes
  • Logistics controlling, efficiency and quality analysis
  • Stock optimisation and material flow planning

In the area of IT:

  • System analysis, conception, development, modification and adjustment of programmes
  • Configuring and maintaining system and application software on computers
  • Support and user support

International partner universities <<

There are intensive relationships with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Singapore Polytechnic, Dublin Institute of Technology and Istanbul Technical University. Further partners are amongst others University College London, Università degli Studi di Parma, KTH Stockholm, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. In addition there are a multitude of contacts with foreign companies worldwide, via the companies on the advisory board, which cover all areas of the degree and are used by the students for the supervised practical study project and for the Bachelor thesis. The diverse contacts with foreign universities are continually further expanded.

Accreditation <<

The programme Information Logistics was accredited by ASIIN without conditions on 31st July 2007.

The Bachelor programme Information Logistics is carried out in the scope of the future oriented programme of the Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities of Co-operative Education of the Baden-Württemberg foundation. The non-profit Baden-Württemberg Stiftung gGmbH is one of the largest foundations in Germany. It is the only foundation which invests in an extraordinary range of subjects, sustainably, impartially and exclusively in the future of Baden-Württemberg and therefore the future of its citizens.
