Description
Conception of the Laboratory for Geoinformatics is to provide a flexible addition of standard-GIS-installations which are available in our university pc-pools. In the Laboratory it is possible to realise (also short term) a research environment for projects and theses in the field of GIS with the newest Hard- and Software.
The focus is on:
- Interoperable usage of geodata
- Internet-GIS and Web-services, OGC-standards
- Dataintegration of heterogeneous data sources
- Integration of GPS in GIS-applications
Several PCs are prepared to access special data sources from external partners through the university firewall. Other PCs are configured and secured to run Web-services which are accessable from outside our university firewall.
Since November 2002 the Laboratory for Geoinformatics is part of the Registered Research Laboratory (RRL) programme of Intergraph.
