Dieter Uckelmann studied Mechanical Engineering at TU
Braunschweig and received his PhD at the University of
Bremen in the Faculty of Production Engineering, PhD topic:
Quantifying the Value of RFID and the EPCglobal
Architecture Framework in Logistics.
He worked at the University of Cambridge (UK, 2009) and
the University of Parma (Italy, 2016) as a guest
researcher. Since 2017 he is a visiting professor at the
University of Parma, where he supervises two PhD
candidates. The focus of his research work is in the field
of logistics, radio-frequency identification (RFID),
real-time locating systems (RTLS) and the Internet of
Things as well as the value of information. Between 2005
and 2012 he has established and managed the LogDynamics Lab
at the University of Bremen. Furthermore he is co-editor of
the "International Journal of RF-Technologies: Research and
Applications". Prior to his academic career, he has been
working in management positions for several IT
companies.
