Short description / Profile of the programme <<

The Bachelor programme in Business Management at HFT Stuttgart allows a very practical degree. Apart from experienced professors, lecturers from economy will pass on their practical knowledge. During the degree a supervised practical study project in a company is planned. The high practical relevance was also awarded a top valuation of 1.8 in the CHE university ranking in 2008. Further important components of the degree are the two foreign languages English and either Spanish or Chinese which are integrated into the Business Management degree.

Structure of the programme <<

In the first two semesters the basics of business management are taught. This phase encompasses subjects such as marketing, cost accounting, law, taxes, general management, quality management, production planning and political economics amongst others. Furthermore knowledge of financial mathematics, statistics and two foreign languages are extended and the necessary key qualifications are taught.

The main study period encompasses four semesters including the supervised practical study project. At the beginning of the 3rd semester the students decide on one of the two majors of General Management or Civil Engineering. The degree ends with the Bachelor examination, which consists of the modules from the basic and major phase as well as the dissertation.

In the 6th semester the degree ends with the completion of the dissertation (completion time: two months), which as a rule can be composed in a company, as well as the subsequent Bachelor colloquium.

Students who decide to choose the study option „Emerging Markets / Languages” during their course of studies will furthermore spend a 7th and 8th semester abroad. During those two semesters students acquire additional professional and cultural qualifications through the completion of classes and an international study project.

Requirements <<

The degree can be started either in the summer or winter semester. Requirements for entry are:

  • University entrance qualification, a subject related university entrance qualification, University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification or equivalent foreign educational achievement
  • Completion of a commercial pre-study internship of at least six weeks before the start of the degree, or alternatively the allowance of commercial job training is also possible

Prospects <<

The Bachelor's programme in Business Management trains management experts with the degree "Bachelor of Arts"(B.A.), who will in particular be qualified for professional activity in small and medium sized companies. Thereby we place particular importance on the following points in our teaching:

  • The close interlinking of business practice and university teaching
  • A strong orientation towards business processes in practice
  • Capability of independent entrepreneurial action
  • Various majors as well as the acquisition of two foreign languages.

After successful completion of the Business Management Bachelor degree it is possible to further these skills in a subsequent Master's degree in our continuative Master's degree in General Management in Germany and abroad.

Study abroad with ERASMUS Stuttgart! This is supervised by the academic international office of the technical university. You have the possibility of completing part of your degree in a partner university abroad. You can find an up to date list in the rubric International. The academic international office of the university will help you to prepare and plan for a stay abroad. There is the possibility - according to the course of studies - of completing the supervised practical study project or a study semester abroad or to study two additional semesters abroad within the scope of the study option „Emerging Markets / Languages”.

Accreditation <<

The programme is accredited by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). Additionally, the course of studies of economics has a certified QM system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001.
