For exchange students

The International Office of the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences is responsible for the administration of all exchange students and should be contacted through the appropriate member of staff at the student’s home institution (International Office or a faculty member in charge of exchanges). Application forms can be found here.

For non-European students

International students from non- European countries wishing to study for an academic degree at any University of Applied Sciences
in Baden-Württemberg are required to submit an initial application to the Ausländer-Studienkolleg (Foreign Educational Department):
  • Fachhochschule Konstanz
    Ausländerstudienkolleg
    Postfach 100543
    D – 78405 Konstanz
    www.ask.fh-konstanz.de

This institution examines the applicant’s secondary school qualifications to verify compatibility with the German entrance requirements. Once the Foreign Educational Department (Ausländer-Studienkolleg) has issued a letter of approval, the student can apply directly to the HfT for his or her chosen degree course. (HfT-application forms/online-application) To expedite the processing of paperwork, applicants are advised to contact the Ausländer-Studienkolleg at least three months prior to the registration deadlines of the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences.

Proficiency in the German language  top of page

  • Foreigners who would like to enrol in a degree course taught in German must show proof of having passed the DSH test, TestDaF, the Kleine Deutsche Sprachdiplom (KDS), the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) or the Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom (GDS).
  • Exchange students from partner universities (for example, members of the Erasmus programme), do not have to take the DSH test. Very good knowledge of the language is enough (approximately the level at which one would be after several years of a German language course).
  • Participants of any of the masters programmes taught in English must be able to show proof of having passed the TOEFL test or an equivalent.
  • Special admission criteria apply for acceptance into masters programmes taught in German.
