Project description In this project, a wide range of industrial products, especially prototypes, from different manufacturers acoustically characterized, optimized and their acoustic effects are forecast. In 2017, for example, these included floor convectors with a circulation function, heating and cooling covers, ventilation systems, different acoustic fabrics and materials, and also office partitioning walls of a very lightweight design. The considered key acoustic parameters were sound power, sound absorption, sound insulation, impact sound level and reduction, dynamic stiffness, specific flow resistance and dynamic modulus of elasticity. All measurements were carried out in our test laboratories at the Centre for Acoustic and Thermal Building Physics and partly required special test structures as well as targeted adjustment or extension of the usual measurement methods. The aim of the project is to assist, in particular, manufacturers with little experience of acoustics and a lack of testing facilities in acoustic optimization of their products.
